Julia Geaghan-Breiner, student of a new course through the College of Creative Studies called “Civics in the Time of a Pandemic, will be organizing a blood drive. Vitalant, the nation's largest non-profit blood collector, just began antibody testing, so donors will be automatically tested for SARS-CoV-2.

The combination of the stay-at-home order and an increase in elective surgeries has led to a 25% increase in the need for blood. The blood drive will adhere to strict COVID-19 regulations, including hiring extra staff to sanitize surfaces, and following 6-foot social distancing between blood donors.

Here is the link to the Fast Track Health History questionnaire which donors can complete on the day  of the drive or print ahead of time: https://www.vitalant.org/health

The drive will take place at the Salvation Army on 4849 Hollister Ave, Goleta.
