This talk by Jonathan Gratch, a University of Southern California professor of computer science, psychology and media arts, will discuss a recent survey on how emotion recognition technology is marketed, and explore the marketers’ claims. Gratch will also review research on how emotional expressions can reveal mental states, help predict future behavior, and guide the design of computer-based agents that shape human behavior. He will outline challenges for the future of affective computing.
