PUBLIC HISTORY COLLOQUIUM: REINTERPRETING SLAVERY AND THE EMOTIONAL LABOR OF HISTORY

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2021 - 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM - ONLINE

Presented by the Department of History.

Professor Hilary Green of the Universty of Alabama reflects on the powerful legacy of Jim Crow era efforts to erase the history of slavery from the landscape of her workplace, and shares a project she pursued to rewrite this historical narrative. She researched, designed and implemented a campus tour to tell the actual history of slavery and enslaved workers in the University’s past.

This event is free and takes place on Zoom.
