CORWIN SERIES LECTURE: KEE YONG CHONG

FRIDAY, MAY 14, 2021 - 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM - ONLINE

Presented by the Department of Music.

The Department of Music will present a Corwin Series Lecture featuring composer Kee Yong Chong. Chong will discuss his work and influences in a lecture titled Multi-Layered Ethnic and Cultural Influences in my Musical Compositions. Chong is one of Malaysia’s leading contemporary music composers. His work has been hailed as “imaginative and poetic” by leading conductor-composer Peter Eötvös, and as “very inventive and artistically pure” by composer Jonathan Harvey. The uniqueness of his music stems not only from a rich palette of sounds, but his experimentation into traditions, infusing his own Chinese and multi-cultural Malaysian heritage into his work.

This event is free and takes place on Zoom.
