Professor Gerardo Aldana of UCSB’s Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies served as a consultant on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s representation of Mesoamerican cultures and played the role of UN assembly chairperson in the film. In a special post-screening discussion, Aldana joined professors of Chicana and Chicano Studies Giovanni Batz and Daina Sanchez , for a discussion of the process of Indigenous worldbuilding and the politics of representation.
