John Majewski’s talk focusses on the new type of capitalism that developed in the northern United States two decades after the Civil War, and how it presented new opportunities to highlight the evils of slavery. The talk will be followed by an audience Q&A. John Majewski is the Michael Douglas Dean of Humanities and Fine Arts and Professor in the Department of History. His areas of specialization include American economic, social, and legal history; Southern history; and the U.S. Civil War. This event is free but registration is required.
