Award-winning playwright Melinda Lopez teams up with director Risa Brainin to debut "Standing Still"
Award-winning playwright Melinda Lopez brings her new work, "Standing Still," to the LAUNCH PAD program at the Department of Theater and Dance. Directed by theater professor Risa Brainin, the play is set in a yoga studio where a weekly class strives to find peace while civil disorder rises in the nation outside.
“What is activism?” asked Brainin, who founded the LAUNCH PAD series now in its 21st season. “If something is happening that you object to, how do you respond? What does it take to stand up?”
Co-commissioned by the Merrimack Repertory Theatre, the production features a cast of students alongside award-winning actor and professor Annie Torsiglieri, with performances running May 13–23 at the Performing Arts Theater. Read the full story on The Current.
