A yearlong public series connects humanities inquiry with questions of sovereignty and bodily autonomy.
UC Santa Barbara’s Interdisciplinary Humanities Center is launching Bodies Politic, its 2026-27 public series on power, control and resistance. Speakers will consider how political systems shape bodies, communities, land and water.
The opening conversation features food-policy scholar Marion Nestle and “Good Food” host Evan Kleiman at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the McCune Conference Room, 6020 Humanities and Social Sciences Building. The event is free and open to the public. View event details.
Further talks continue through the academic year. Explore the series schedule.
